Somewhere along the way, a lot of us picked up the idea that faith is a private thing. Just you, your Bible app, and Jesus. You show up on Sunday, you take something home, and the rest of the week you handle your walk with God on your own. It feels spiritual. It can even feel humble, like you're not bothering anybody with your stuff.

But that's not the faith Jesus built. When He started the Church, He didn't start it as a collection of individuals who happen to believe the same things. He built a family. A body. A people who actually belong to each other. And one of the clearest things in the entire New Testament is this — you were never meant to follow Jesus alone.

Here at Kingdom House, one of the things we say about ourselves is that we refuse to do life alone. That's not a slogan we hung on a wall. It's a conviction, and it's the reason we're launching Grow Groups.

The Christian life is a "one another" life

Open the New Testament and start counting how many times you run into the phrase "one another." Love one another. Carry one another's burdens. Encourage one another. Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. Spur one another on toward love and good deeds, and don't give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Here's what you can't get around: you cannot do a single one of those "one anothers" by yourself. You can't carry a burden nobody's told you about. You can't be encouraged by people who don't know your name. The "one another" life is impossible to live from a chair in a crowd once a week. It takes a smaller room and a few people who actually know you.

That's what the earliest church understood. In Acts, they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to fellowship, to breaking bread, and to prayer — and they did it both in the temple courts and from house to house (Acts 2:42-46). The big gathering and the small one. They needed both. So do we.

Why we avoid the very thing we need

Let me be honest about something, because I don't want to pretend this part is easy. Most of us don't avoid community because we're too busy. We avoid it because being known is frightening. In a crowd you can stay anonymous. You can keep the polished version of yourself intact, say you're fine when you're not, and never let anyone close enough to see what's really going on. The flesh loves that. It would rather stay hidden and comfortable than be known and changed.

And that's exactly why isolation is the enemy's favorite place to work on you. He knows the thing you're carrying in secret starts to lose its grip the moment you drag it into the light and let a few trusted people stand with you in it. Being known is scary. It's also the only place healing has ever actually happened.

It costs you the version of you that has it all together. But that version was never going to grow anyway.

So yes, walking into a room of people you don't know yet is going to cost you something. It costs you the version of you that has it all together. But that version was never going to grow anyway. Growth was always going to require being seen.

What a Grow Group actually is

A Grow Group is a small group of people who meet weekly to study the Word together, share real life, and encourage each other. That's it. It's not a class you have to be qualified for. It's not another obligation to perform. It's a few people in a room, opening the Bible and opening their lives, walking toward Jesus together instead of alone.

We call it a Grow Group on purpose. We believe every person is on a journey — to encounter Jesus, live in freedom, grow in His Word, and demonstrate His Kingdom. Grow Groups are where the growing actually happens. It's where "from hurt to whole" stops being something you hear on a Sunday and becomes something that happens to you on a Tuesday night, in a living room, surrounded by people who know your name and are pulling for your good.

This is your next step

This Sunday, we're opening signups for Grow Groups. If you've been coming and quietly wondering how to actually get connected here — this is it. This is the step. Don't overthink it, and don't wait until you feel ready, because the truth is you'll never feel completely ready to be known. Take the step anyway.

You don't have to follow Jesus alone. You were never supposed to. He put us in a body on purpose, because being known by His people is one of the main ways He makes us whole. So come be known — we'll save you a seat.
